TET starts tomorrow (Saturday, 29th April)

TET (Teachers Eligibility Test) is set to start from tomorrow (Saturday, 29th April). 7.40 Lakh candidates are participating in writing TET conducted for 2 days.

As per the rules of the central government under the Compulsory Education Rights Act, those seeking jobs as teachers - secondary teachers teaching classes from 1st to 8th Standard and graduate teachers (for the higher classes), they must pass TET.

For employment as teachers in CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) schools including the Kendriya Vidyalas, the candidates have to pass in CTET (Central Teachers Eligibility Test) conducted by CBSE.

In the state of Tamil Nadu, the responsibility for organising TET has been entrusted with TRB (Teachers Recruitment Board).

A pass in this TET is compulsory to work as Secondary and graduate teachers in the state government and government-aided schools in Tamil Nadu state.

TET was conducted last time 3 years ago in 2014 – it was for special section test for the differently-abled persons. TET has now been resumed and is being conducted this year 2017.

As per the earlier announcement by TRB, TET is scheduled on Saturday, 29th April (Secondary teachers – Paper-1) and Sunday, 30th April (for graduate teachers – Paper-2).

On 28th April, 237293 candidates are writing the TET in 598 centres.

On 29th April, 502964 candidates are writing TET in 1263 centres.

TRB officials informed that a total of 740257 candidates are writing TET.

In Chennai Metro, 10147 candidates are writing Paper-1 of TET on 28th April in 27 centres. 31235 candidates are writing TET Paper-2 on 29th April. This information was given by the Chennai District Collector, Mr V. Anbuselvan.

Candidates have been advised to be personally present by 8.30 AM at the TET centres though the exam starting time is 10.00 AM. Inspection of the candidates will be conducted between 8.30 AM and 9.30 AM – a thorough inspection will be conducted regarding bit-papers, calculators, cell phones, etc. The candidates will be allowed to enter the examination hall only after cleared by the checking.

TET starts at 10.00 AM and ends at 1.00 PM. When coming out of the examination centre, the candidates are allowed to take a copy of their answer sheets (OMR Sheet copy).

TRB has already announced that the results of TET will be announced in July.
