GST on movie tickets reduced to 18%

The GST for the movie tickets costing Rs.100 and below has been reduced to 18% from the originally proposed 28%. However, movie tickets costing above Rs. 100 will have 28% GST.
Further, GST on some other 66 items including insulin is also being reduced.
GST is set to be implemented from 1st July making the way for a more uniform Tax system throughout the country.
Details of items with reduced GST
- GST reduced from 18% to 12% for pickles, Mustard sauce, Morappa (Ginger/chocolate).
- GST for cashew nuts reduced from 12% to 8%.
- GST of 12% withdrawn for children colouring/drawing books. GST on exercise books reduced to 12%.
- GST for computer printers reduced from 28% to 18%.
- GST on insulin reduced to 5%.
- GST on agarbathis reduced to 5%.
- GST for the students’ school bags reduced to 18%.
- GST for packaged food items, some fruits, vegetables, and the instant food is reduced from 18% to 12%.
- GST for tractor spare parts reduced from 28% to 18%.
