The Zika Virus is similar to the various infectious viral diseases which spread especially during the rainy season. The mosquitoes, which cause the dengue and chikungunya, are also the reason for the Zika virus.
In the recent past, though Zika virus had attacked several countries neighbouring India, only one case of a single person affected with Zika virus in Tamil Nadu has been reported.
The symptoms:
The symptoms of Zika virus include a headache, back pain, physical exhaustion, reddening of eyes, etc.
The state department of health has advised the public that they should seek immediate medical advice when there are symptoms as above.
The prevention:
It is observed that the attack of Zika virus is relatively far less in Tamil Nadu, mainly due to the hot weather prevalent almost throughout the year.
The public, interested in prevention of not only Zika but also other viruses as well – must prevent water stagnation around the house and nearby. It would be better to boil the water, filter and then use for drinking. More care has to be taken in case of the pregnant women as it is known that Zika virus can affect the child in the womb as well.
The state government has announced that in the case of noticing any symptoms or any doubts, it is better to approach the nearest primary health centre.
