An information is gathered that due to unavoidable reasons, the printing of the new Rs. 200 currency notes is getting delayed and that it may be released only on the occasion of Deepavali.

Earlier, the central government had decided to print new Rs. 200 currency notes. An official was released to RBI in the month of June to print these new Rs. 200 notes.

Subsequently, progress has been made at a feverish pitch to print and release the new Rs. 200 currency notes.

There was an information that the new Rs. 200 notes may be in circulation throughout the country by the end of this month (August). However, due to some delays in the printing process, there are no prospects of the new Rs. 200 notes being released by end August.

It is now gathered that these may be released on the occasion of the popular Hindu festival Deepavali. The latest hi-tech security features are included in this.

The new Rs. 200 notes would be somewhat smaller in shape/size. It will be smaller than the Rs. 500 currency notes presently under circulation.

So, the new Rs. 200 currency notes may not be immediately available in the ATMs. Only after necessary changes are carried for accommodating the size and shape of the new Rs. 200 currency note, this facility will be made available. This may take a few months to complete.
