All the unions falling under the UFBU have alerted that they are to go on a strike opposing government’s move to consolidate apart from a number of other demands placed. This is likely to hit the services by public sector banks on Tuesday.

In fact, a lot of banks have already alerted their customers about non-functioning or doubtful functioning of bank branches and offices as they are prone to get hit when the strike takes off.

In the private lenders like ICICI, HDFC, Axis bank, Kotak Mahindra, etc, the operations are likely to be normal, however delay in cheque clearance is to be expected.

For all the 9 unions encompassing All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), All India Bank Employees Association, and National Organization of Bank Workers, it is the United Form of Banks Union that serves as an umbrella body.

AIBOC General Secretary, D T Franco said the conciliation meeting that took place in the presence of Chief Labour Commissioner has turned a drastic failure. All the unions are left with no other choice than to opt for a strike. The government has not given any assurance and so do the banks management.

Al the initiatives taken to meet the demands raised have not turned fruitful. And hence, UFBU has decided to go on a strike on 22nd August.
