SMCA to host Durga Puja and Navaratri Celebrations

The South Madras Cultural Association (SMCA), will celebrate its 39th Sharadotsav (Durga Puja) celebrations, the biggest annual socio-cultural event between 25th and 30th September 2017 at the TNHB Community Hall, Besant Nagar Chennai. Honourable Chief Justice Indira Banerjee, will be the Chief Guest and do the inauguration on 26th October, 6:30 pm. Veteran freedom fighter Saraswathi Rajamani will also be present and grace the occasion. The funds raised from this event will be given to the SMCA Charitable Trust which is engaged in philanthropic and charitable causes, enforcing their credo to “give back to the community.”
 
The event will kick start with the Anandamela, on 25th evening where members will showcase their culinary talents and prepare choicest snacks and food which can be purchased at a cost. Puja will be performed on five days between 26th and 30th September with the traditional anjali and aarti. Food stalls replete with mouth-watering cuisines will bedeck the premises including caterers coming in with Bengali delicacy from Kolkata. Prasadam and Bhog (vegetarian lunch) will be served every day and is open to all who visit. Mornings will have a number of cultural events where all can participate. Evenings will have special programmes being put up by members and invited artists from Kolkata for the club members and their guests. It is open to all.
 
A number of Corporate like ITC, Pepsi, Cox and Kings, Vodafone, GRT and others will be present to support the event.
