Reliance Jio has come forward with a buy back offer. Under this, it is ready to get Apple’s latest iPhone models that are used for about a year for about 70 percent of the rate. This initiative is a part of the company’s strategy in increasing data sales and expand in the Indian market.

This will also further escalate the competition prevailing in the Indian telecom sector, and put the other telecom providers like Airtel and Vodafone under pressure.

Apple, a company based in California is avid about increasing iPhone sales. This is among the top markets in the country as there is dwindling growth in US and Chinese markets, however due to high price of mobile handsets keeps the phone out of reach in India. Akash Ambani – son of Mukesh Ambani announced this buyback offer and said this will be available for 3 of the latest models including iPhone 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X.

This offer will be applicable to Jio customers who get iPhone and choose to get Rs 799 monthly pack for about 12 months. This kind of hefty cashback in Indian telecom sector is first of its kind. The announcement is made on Friday during an event where Jio launched the latest iPhone models in India. With this, Apple’s market share will get increased in India which is at present 3 percent.
