In the next 6 months, it is likely that the Indian IT professionals will have reduce job opportunities as automation and digitization are largely disrupting the conventional roles, says a new survey.
The Experis IT ManpowerGroup India has conducted the survey called Experis IT Employment Outlook Survey. The results state that the IT hiring intentions in the country will slacken between October 2017 and March 2018.
It is expected that the IT industry will modify the talent pool. Most of the hiring will be done in junior and middle levels, and foreseeing layoffs with the senior slab, says the survey report where over 500 Indian IT employers from across the country were studied.
The likely layoff by all the IT giants altogether will be substantially higher than what the IT sector in the country has so far seen. In the next 6 months to 1 year, this trend is set to continue.
The survey further adds that IT professionals should make best use of this time period of 6 to 12 months for equipping themselves for the cutting-edge technologies that will have enormous demand.
With the newer technologies like software as a service, cloud-based enterprise resource planning, artificial intelligence, unprecedented speed, cost efficiency and accuracy, the competitive trend is likely to keep driving businesses, said the President of Experis, Manmeet.
Furthermore, this kind of transformation lead to technical complexity which in turn triggers the need for young professionals, thus leading to a fresh pool of talented professionals to the Indian IT industry. And the trend is likely to continue for the next 2 years.
In spite of the positivity observed in the overall Indian IT employment, there is slew in focus towards upskilling employees.
Most of the employees say they prefer training fresh candidates for the system. So, companies look for young, fresh talents who are already aware of the contemporary technologies and prepared for hitting the ground. Reducing the learning curve by preponing probation is the key now in Indian IT industry now.
This being a period of total uncertainty, companies ought to keep moving in the path of transforming organization engagement models, their capability of deliveries, and go-to market approach so as to meet the changing demands of the digital transformation.
