Petrol pump dealers strike gets called off

The proposed day-long strike by the petrol pump dealers scheduled for Wednesday is called off following stringent warnings by state-owned oil firms that strict action be taken including cancellation of their contracts.
 
A number of associations of petrol pump dealers came together announcing the 24-hour strike opposing the new Marketing Discipline Guidelines that codifies strict penalties in case of short-selling, non-provision of hygienic toilets, not giving minimum wages to employees, and manual mode operation of petrol pumps without authorization.
 
Ajay Bansal, the President of All India Petroleum Dealers Association said that the director marketing of the 3 oil companies requested to call of the strike and hence they are withdrawing upon appeal.
 
The Unified Petroleum Front, All-India Petroleum Dealers Association, and the Consortium of Indian Petroleum Dealers have also threatened of indefinite cease of both sales and purchase starting from October 27.
 
The oil companies had appealed to call off the strike and also warned about stringent action be taken by petrol pump operators including cancellation dealership contract.
 
The Chairman of Indian Oil Corp, Sanjiv Singh state that it is unjustified to make the strike call as all the demands are met and the dealer commission was increased recently before a few weeks.
