The central government has planned to attach the Aadhar card number to the flight ticket while booking the same. This plan is set to be implemented from 2018.
In an announcement released by the Department of Airport Traffic Regulation, it is stated that Aadhar card details will be mandatory to be linked with the flight ticket while taking flights from all airports in the country except Kolkata, Ahmadabad, and Vijayawada.
This new plan, brought under the basic Aadhar plan, the passengers entering the airport will be bio-metrically checked to confirm the identity. With this check, the details of the passenger regarding the flight booked, his destination, etc., can be accessed.
Hence, the passengers need not have to show their ID cards, papers, flight tickets, boarding pass, etc, This would facilitate a substantial time-saving. A barcode will be printed on the flight ticket once Aadhar card is linked.
