The poor response from the building owners in association with the Housing department’s recent announcement of regularization of Building with violations and those constructions that are against the standards of laws makes the Housing Department to think over a further extend of time for the builders to document their buildings properly.

There are no takers for the State Government’s clemency Scheme for the Builders receiving an exemption from implications leading to this decision of Housing Departments extending of the deadline for another six months. It is also attributed to the famous ‘113 Scheme’ closing on 21st of December.

The total of around five lakh buildings are categorized under the rules and plan violations and nearly 1.5 lakh buildings are under the Chennai Metropolitan Area. The builder are demanding more time for their formalities to get their buildings under the radar of properly regularized categories.

This scheme has some critical point of views from environmentalists stating that the builders will now have enough time to illegally regulate their buildings through bribing the authorities. Also the penalty amount is decreased for the violated builders which further causing a suspicious view.

So the High Court of Chennai announced the Housing Department to receive proper applications from the builders and to stop proving regulation certificated till further notice.
