The US immigration agency has announced that foreign workers present in the US holding H-1B Visa are allowed to work for more than one company.

H-1B visa is among the sought-after visa kinds by Indians. It is a non-immigrant visa that permits the US firms to recruit foreign workers in specialty occupations where there is need for theoretical and technical expertise. From countries including India and China, every year, tens of thousands of employees get hired in US tech firms.

According to a tweet made by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (the federal agency that decides on successful H-1B applications), it is said that those holding H-1B visas will be allowed to work for more than 1 employer, and that each should hold I-129 approval.

Before starting their work, the new employer ought to provide I-129 petition, said USCIS statement.

What is I-129?

It is a form that a non-immigrant worker has to submit to the USCIS. It is for employers for obtaining non-immigrant visa status of a worker. This is not a rule, but anyway, it is known hardly to a few people.

The annual cap set on H-1B visa is 65,000 visa for a fiscal year, as it is made mandatory by the Congress. Those holding US master’s degree and those having higher on exempt from the cap will contribute to the first 20,000 petitions.
