The price of green chillis doubles

The agriculturists from the village Chinnamanur are delighted - because the price of green chillis has doubled.

The 2 types of chillis – known as Samba (finger-shaped) and uruttu milagai (spherical shape)  - are being grown in the areas in Theni district surrounding Chinnamanur – Markaiyankottai, Kuchanur, Duraisamipuram, Koozhaiyanur, Ayyampatti, Appipatti, Muthulapuram, Chinnaovulapuram, Erasakkanayakanur, Odaippatti Kamatchipuram, and Seeppalakkottai villages.

Presently, the harvesting of the short-term agricultural product of green chillis is in progress. Further, the prices of the vegetables have gone up as the devotees of Sabarimalai and Palani are in their ‘Viratham’ period. Subsequently, the price of green chilli has also gone up.

As the arrival quantity of green chillis had increased, it was sold at Rs. 8 per kg. Presently, green chilli is being sold at Rs. 15 per kg. With this doubling of price, the farmers are indeed delighted.
