Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) barred the Bharti Airtel for the biometric verification of its customers through e-KYC. Now UIDAI revoked it and gave permission till March 31, 2018 to finish the biometric verification entries of mobile customers.

Earlier it was January 10, kept as a deadline for the Aadhar Verification, now the extended deadline gave the much time needed for the Bharti Airtel for the whole process says the sources of the Telecom Company.

Airtel returned Rs 138 crore LPG subsidy into solicited payment bank accounts without sending prior request to the subscribers. This resulted in UIDAI temporarily stopping the verification process of Airtel Communications, suspending the payments bank e-KYC license.

Even though the license is suspended as per the earlier order Airtel got the permission to roll the work of verification process till March end through complete analysis and enquiry of the company’s audit reports. Government’s quick actions caused the company to re-investigate and change all the process involving the LPG subsidy through Airtel Payments Bank.

According to the Airtel spokesperson Airtel is now in complete compliance with UIDAI in regulating all the documents related to the e-KYC license revoking process with ensuring openness in all transactions. However the customers are now on a safer side keeping their connections live till the extended deadline ordered as per the regulations of UIDAI.
