BSNL has planned to set up 4G Wi-Fi Hot Spot service in the districts of Chennai, Thiruvallur, and Kanchipuram at a cost of Rs. 8 Crores in 93 locations. This service is scheduled to be available before the end of March.
The BSNL Chennai General Manager explained in this regard:
‘The ‘4G Wi-Fi Hot Spot Service’ plan activity was commenced last June on behalf of BSNL. The services were started at a cost of Rs. 4 Crores in 43 locations in Chennai, and 20 rural locations in Thiruvallur and Kanchipuram districts.
‘In the 2nd Phase, 4G Wi-Fi Hot Spot Services are being set up in 93 locations at a cost of Rs. 8 Crores. The 93 locations include – 63 places in Chennai Metro City including Triplicane, Anna Nagar, Villivakkam, Perambur, Maduravoyal, and Kilpauk, Chingleput in Kanchipuram district, and 40 locations in Thiruvallur district including Gummidipoondi and Ponneri. The facility will be commissioned for service before the end of March.
‘3 services - BSNL 4G Plus, BSNL Wi-Fi, and BSNL Broad Fi – are being provided through this plan. The BSNL prepaid customers who are using BSNL 2G and 3G data-plan can use the BSNL 4G plan.
‘Apart from the BSNL customers, even the customers from other networks can also use the BSNL Wi-Fi services. When the urban customers are using this service for the 1st time, 100 MB data would be given free. For the rural customers using this service for the 1st time, 4 GB data would be given free. Further use can be continued with online recharge.
‘In order to utilise the above services, various plans are available starting from Rs. 10 to Rs. 1999.’
