Vandalur Zoo is getting ready for Pongal vacation

Vandalur Zoo officials said that there has been a steady rise in the total number of visitors to the zoo during the Pongal holidays, with the total number of visitors more than doubling from 58,000 in 2009 to around 1,20,000 last year. The Zoo officials added that the are expecting more visitors this year approximately more than 2lakhs which is higher than previous year.
And the zoos are said to be one of the cheapest worth time spending areas on vocational periods. This is said to be a major reason for the rise in the number of visitors especially during the Pongal festive season. Not only for visitors and the zoo is a lovable place for the wildlife lovers to see their distant companions near.
Vandalur zoo’s special advantage is that it’s sole infrastructure with spread over 1,265 acres with 2,553 species of flora and fauna, the zoo is also home to 46 endangered animals of the Western Ghats and the Indian Subcontinent.
