The summer is on and in the next few months Chennai people would be facing unbearable heat. It is known that people find their lives tough in the summer heat. The high humidity of the Chennai weather and frequent power cuts in summer has often been the topic for discussion for many in the past.

The latest news is the Chennai residents have once again started to face issues of power cuts regularly now in this summer too.

It is now said that problems in the feeder lines plus substations are responsible for these frequent power cuts in many places in Chennai. Enough electricity is available to meet the demand is known.

People living in localities such as Adyar, Raja Annamalai Puram, Kotturpuram, Mandaveli, Nanganallur, Alandur etc are facing many power cuts in a day now. The officials from Tangedco are doing their best in restoring the power back in few minutes or in few hours.

An official from Tangedco expressed his thoughts regarding the frequent power cuts in Chennai now. He spoke about how the problems faced by the Chennai residents regarding power problems are known to these officials.  He later spoke about how the sub-stations are maintained regularly and there is no issue with worn out cables etc.

This official threw light on the fact that unscheduled power cuts that are caused due to increase in the load during the summers. It must be noted that close monitoring of load for 24 hours for seven days is being carried out. When the load increases it could lead to tripping of the distribution lines.

The official further highlighted that workers belonging to Tangedco look out for the place where the line has been cut and further repair works are done by these workers efficiently.

There are many complaints received from the people and these people have tried to raise the power related grievances in vain by means of 1912 lifeline.

A call centre is managing these complaints and there was a meeting with all the AEs or assistant engineers. It is revealed that AEs were asked to call the number after midnight and this is to check whether there is proper response.
