There are 562 engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu including the government engineering colleges, government-aided engineering colleges, and self-financed colleges. There are a total 2.60 Lakhs seats available for the engineering courses of B. E. or B. Tech. in these colleges. Out of these seats, 1.90 Lakhs seats are filled through the counselling sessions conducted by the Anna University.

Anna University had announced earlier that online counselling will be introduced and conducted from this year onwards. Accordingly, the process of applying for the online counselling sessions are scheduled to start from today (Thursday, 3rd May).

The students applying online need to visit the website – www.annauniv.edu/tnea2018 and apply from anywhere. The applicants who do not have the internet facility can visit any of the 42 Assistance Centres set up for this purpose throughout Tamil Nadu and apply online free of charge.

These details are also given on the website. The last date for applying online for counselling is 30th May.

The students who have just written the +2 Public Examinations need not have to wait for the release of the results. Once the results are released, the state government department of examinations will send the data CDs to Anna University. The mark details can be accessed from the CDS and will be filled in the respective student’s applications.

However, the students who are completing 12th standard this year under CBSE have to wait for the release of the results. The other students under any other syllabus can apply online for the counselling.
