College students attacked at SRM University

The attack on five college students has brought to the fore non-compliance of anti-ragging laws in the city. First year BBA student at SRM University, Akhil, filed a complaint with the police when attacked by his seniors, but had to withdraw it when he came under immense pressure to do so.
Following this, another injured student Gautam’s brother approached the college’s anti-ragging cell only to be shown the door and told not to interfere, being threatened with expulsion. He feels that this may have to do with the upcoming elections at the college. If that may be the case, it is even more urgent to check such violence in the name of politics.
