The toll gate charges in 14 tollgates linking the Chennai Metro City to Madurai, Salem, and Andhra have been revised upwards by 10%.
This will be effective from 1st September. It is gathered that the central ministry of transport will release the advertisements regarding this. There is an increase of 10% for cars. For the heavy-duty vehicles such as lorries and buses, this may be revised upwards by 6%.
The officials informed that this increase in toll gate charges is meant for improving the basic facilities in the roads/highways maintenance.
With the recent upward revision of toll gate charges in the 20 toll gates including 6 toll gates in the Chennai Metro City has met with strong objections and protests, it is notable now that the toll gate charges are being revised for the toll gates under the jurisdiction of the National Highways Department.
