As there are 2 low-pressure zones forming simultaneously in the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, the Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that the heavy rains will persist in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

A cyclonic format has developed and prevails in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the southwest Bay of Bengal over the zone between Sri Lanka and Tami Nadu.

In a similar trend, another cyclonic format has formed and prevailed in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the southeast Arabian Sea as well.  Because of the above 2 cyclonic formats, it has been raining since the last 2 days in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

The cyclonic format over the Arabian Sea will transform into a deep depression zone by the afternoon today (Friday, 5th October)  and convert to a cyclone, intensify further and drift in the northwest direction and will reach coastal Oman.

Further, the depression zone over the Bay of Bengal is also transforming into a deep depression zone. Thus, 2 depression zones are to develop into cyclone formats at the same time. Because of this, there are prospects of persisting heavy rain in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Presently, the southwest monsoon seasonal rains have been persistently pouring. The Meteorological Centre has informed that the southwest monsoon season concludes in the next 24 hours and there are prospects of the commencement of the northeast monsoon rainy season.
