Student volunteers from the Eco Club of Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering are on the verge of completing ‘mapping’ of sparrows in North Chennai. They hope to finish the task in time for World Sparrow Day which falls on March 20th.

The Club, under the guidance of the Environment Monitoring and Action Initiating (EMAI), have studied nesting habits in Tondiarpet, Washermanpet, Sowcarpet, Parry’s Corner, Thiruvottiyur and Royapuram. They have also done tests on where sparrows prefer to nest.

Once studies have completed, they will integrate the findings into Google maps of North Chennai.
