Monorail project, a Rs.8000 crore dream project of the TN government, covering an area of 57 kms to connect the people of Chennai and its suburbs by means of another method of railways will be started from June this year.
The Tamil Nadu Government has formed a committee and making several investigations for the procurement of land that the project needed. According to the latest information, the monorail project has decided to construct at least 37 stations for the passengers safety. The work of monorail would be completed with the construction of three different stretches - one from Velachery to Vandalur, the second from Poonamallee to Vadapalani and Poonamallee to Kathipara.
It is said that the Tenders for the construction of Monorail project will be called for this month and many companies are interested to take up the project. However, the total money expended on the project should be borne by the contracting companies alone. The project cost would be repaid to the companies only after the project started earning revenue. The government would take away the revenue only after it discharged the entire money expended by the contracting firms.
