Cyclone Gaja makes landfall at Vedaranyam in Tamil Nadu

The important piece of information that has come out now is cyclone Gaja that has been making more news in the last few days has made landfall in Vedaranyam at 1 am on Friday, 16th. There were heavy winds at speed of 90 mph and heavy rains lashed places like Nagapattinam, Cuddalore and Puducherry. At around 1:30 am in the morning the cyclone Gaja was in full force and the entire landfall was expected to take place in 2 to 3 hours. In those areas in the path of cyclone Gaja, many trees were uprooted and power supply was disrupted and it caused lots of problems. It is already known that cyclone Gaja would create issues for the people and as a result the government has taken many precautionary steps.

It is now said that the intensity of the damage done by cyclone Gaja could be found out by the Friday morning.  One important piece of information is as many as 72,498 people in vulnerable places were evacuated and these people were housed in 368 relief centres present in the 6 districts that were affected by this cyclone Gaja.

For Friday, 16th of November 2018, holiday has been announced for all the educational institutions in these districts. Medical teams play huge role in these situations and prevent the diseases from spreading is well known. The latest piece of news revealed that the medical teams have fanned across the state of Tamil Nadu to deal with the emergencies and to check the diseases from spreading. As per the officials it is now brought out that four teams of NDRF have been deployed in the districts of Nagapattinam and 4 teams of SDRF has been deployed in the district of Cuddalore.
