Simple ways to prevent yourself from catching cold at work

Yes, as you know, cold and flu are contagious. When there is a person suffering from cold and sneeze and sits next to you, chances are that you catch cold so easily. This is how you get cold infection spreads. In closed environments like office space, spreading of cold is very common.

Even if you had recently got sick, there are chances that you fall sick yet again. Due to seasonal changes, people are falling sick with cold very often. And in office space, as the affected people reside in the same enclosed room, the chances of spreading cold is very high. That is the reason for getting cold from nowhere so easily when you work in an office space.

In such times, all you need to do is take a lot of fluid intake. Here are the ways in which you can reduce or prevent cold:

Clean wash your hands

Always make sure to keep yourself free of germs. So, washing hands is the first step towards this, especially at times when you want to get recovered out of any sickness. Be dedicated in cleaning your hands with a quality hand wash for at least 20 seconds. This will help you stay protected from catching sickness from others. While washing, ensure that you don’t get in contact with any disinfect surface.

Never compromise your sleep

When you don’t get enough sleep for the day, you are more likely to catch cold as compared to others. According to a recent study, those adults who did not have a minimum of 6 hours of sleep were more prone to sickness compared to their counterparts who had enough sleep.

Have a decongestant with you always

You cannot compromise on your daily duties just because you are sick. So, keeping medicines handy is one helpful way to decongest yourself whenever you feel discomfort. It will clear you up as and when needed.

Take breaks in between

Amidst your 8 hours of work, take break every now and then. This is going to be great not just for your physical health, but your mental health as well. When you work continuously for hours without taking enough break in between, your body produces more of stress hormone called cortisol. This will make your body more prone to catching cold. So relieve stress out of your body and stay cool and relaxed so that you are even more immunized.
