Chennai based Anna University has been making news for wrong reasons in the recent times. Earlier 538 colleges belonging to Anna university got question paper for Opto Electronic Devices subject and Part B was repetition of previous year question paper plus 5 questions in part A were also repeated is known. The latest news that has come out is another question paper goof up has been brought out by the students. On 20th of November 2018 the students belonging to the third year of Electronics and Communication Engineering or ECE of MIT or Madras Institute of Technology belonging to Anna University wrote examinations. It was found out that a 13 mark question was missing from the question paper that was distributed to these students.

The Discrete Time Signal Processing is an important paper of ECE and the students who wrote this paper were shocked to find that Part B of this question paper that should have 5( either/or) questions had just 4 questions and question numbers 13(a) and 13(b) were missing in that question paper. The students who were confused regarding the question paper informed the exam hall invigilators and these invigilators then alerted ACOE or Additional Controller of Examinations.

It must be taken into account that halfway through the examinations the students were given separate pieces of papers having the missed question. The authorities belonging to ACOE stated that in the previous evening they have spotted the error during the review of the question paper and rectified it for the College of Engineering, Guindy. They also revealed that they were not able to rectify it for MIT as the question papers had to be sent the previous evening.

Deputy controller of examinations, MIT, Mr. Baskar later spoke about how there was a technical glitch when the question paper setter converted the word into PDF. He pointed out that question number 13(a) in the last line of the page1 got deleted as it went beyond the margin. It was later clarified by the authorities belonging to ACOE that the printouts having the missing question were sent much earlier and the MIT faculties did not distribute it to the students until the students alerted them. The teaching faculty who had set the ‘Discrete Time Signal processing’ question paper for the third year ECE students did not comment. The students did not have time to answer the question and they had requested for grace marks.
