The Supreme Court has granted approval for students over 25 years of age to register for NEET. Further, it has extended the deadline for registration to participate in NEET by another week time.

A pass in NEET (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test) is mandatory for the students interested in pursuing medical courses to join in the universities/colleges throughout the country. National Testing Agency, under the control of CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education), conducts NEET.

It had been announced earlier the registration for NEET online can be done from 1st November to 30th November. In this scenario, a petition had been submitted to the Supreme Court demanding that the students above 25 years of age must also be allowed to participate in NEET.

This petition came up for enquiry today (Thursday, 29th November). The judges gave the verdict that the students over 25 years of age can also register to write NEET. Accordingly, the Supreme Court has ordered an extension of the last date to register by a week’s time in order to facilitate interested students of over 25 years of age to register. The judges remarked that this above age exemption is subject to the final verdict of the petition against CBSE.
