Sasi Perumal who had been fasting for the last 33 days was forcibly taken to Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital on Sunday evening and was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit, as his health condition deteriorated and there is a fear that his kidney may be affected.
Perumal, who is said to be a Gandhian, had been fasting demanding a total prohibition in Tamil Nadu began fasting at a private residence in Abhiramapuram.
On coming to know that Perumal was facing acute health problem, several public including some politicians requested him to end his fast immediately to take medical treatment. When he refused to get admitted, police pulled him on to a stretcher and took him to the ambulance, said a volunteer.
According to the GH Residence Medical Officer Rajeswari the pulse and blood pressure were normal. A consultant physician who had examined said that Perumal was completely dehydrated and needed immediate medical attention.
It is likely, a health bulletin will be released frequently to announce the health condition of Perumal.
