Wheat Dhosa is your savior when you run out of any other ingredients at home. You can make this quick and at the same time you don’t have to compromise on the taste. There are two versions of the same dish: the sweet version and savory version. Below mentioned is the savory version of Wheat Dhosa.
Ingredients required
- Wheat flour – 2 cups
- Rice flour - ¼ cup
- Onions – 1 No. (finely chopped)
- Ginger – ½ spoon (finely chopped)
- Cumin seeds – ½ spoon
- Water – 4 cups
- Salt – as required
- Ghee or butter – 1 spoon
Cooking Method
- Take the onions and ginger and chop them finely
- Take a wide, deep bowl and add rice flour, wheat flour and salt. Mix all these together. To this, add cumin seeds, finely chopped onions and ginger
- Now it is the time to add water and prepare the batter. Prepare the batter by adding water in small portions. Using a whisk or ladle, mix the content altogether. Make sure that there are no lumps. The final batter should be thick. You will not be able to prepare the Dhosa if the batter is too thick or too watery.
- Now, take a Tawa and heat it. With a ladle, make a Dhosa out of it. Allow one side of the Dhosa to get cooked well. This may take some extra time while compared to regular Dhosa batter we commonly prepare with rice. Once one side is done cooking, flip it to the next side and cook. Add ghee or butter in the sides for crispy Dhosa.
This is an excellent recipe good for babies. You may start giving this to babies of age 10 months and above. The Dhosa is going to be super-soft and nice to munch, and so babies will love them. You can go ahead and add beetroot puree to it to make it even healthier. And instead of regular onions, you may try to add shallots to add the recipe’s health values.
