The new cyclone to be formed over the Bay of Bengal has been named Phethai by Thailand.

There has been a gap in the northeast monsoon rainy season in Tamil Nadu. There has been no rain in most parts of Tamil Nadu over the last 3 days.

Meanwhile, there are symptoms for a new cyclonic format to be developed over the Bay of Bengal. There are prospects of a new low-pressure zone being formed over the zone above Kanyakumari and the Indian Ocean over southeast Sri Lanka near the equator and the southeast of Bay of Bengal.

As a vast crowd of humid clouds from the Arabian Sea area strengthen this depression format, this is likely to transform into a cyclonic format.

There will be a strong depression zone developed by the 10th December and then transform into a cyclone. This may drift towards to the coastal part of Chennai. The cyclone is likely to cross the coast between Chennai and Visakhapatnam of Andhra. It has been estimated that this cyclone could be quite fierce. As the cyclonic format develops, dry weather will persist.
