The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that there are strong prospects of heavy rains in Tamil Nadu on 14th and 15th December.
The Director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, S, Balachandran, explained in this regard that a low-pressure format developed over the Bay of Bengal has now located over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean.
There are strong possibilities that this low-pressure format may transform into a high depression zone in the next 24 hours. It may further intensify on 14th December. This may drift towards north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra.
Due to this development, there are prospects of heavy to very heavy rains in 1 or 2 places in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu on 14th and 15th December.
The fishermen in the deeper ocean zones are strongly advised to come back ashore before this evening itself (Wednesday, 12th December). Further, fishermen are strictly advised not to venture into the sea – the central portion of the southeast Bay of Bengal tomorrow (13th Dec) and the southwest Bay of Bengal regions the day-after tomorrow (14th Dec).
