Chennai-Bangalore double-decker-train awaits statutory clearances

After several trial runs and fine-tunings the Chennai-Bangalore double-decker train services are ready for the passengers, but it could be possible only the train is given the statutory clearance.

The Railway authorities are awaiting for the clearance order for the fully air-conditioned Double Decker which will have a total of 120 reclining seats in each coach with 50 in the upper-deck, 48 in the lower-deck and 22 in the middle-deck with split entrance on both sides.

The Indian Railways have been operating double-deckers on three routes like Howrah-Dhanbad, New Delhi-Jaipur and Mumbai-Ahmedabad.

The Bangalore-Chennai having a distance of 360 kms will be covered in six hours by the train and the charges will be Rs.440 as in AC Chair Cars of Brindavan and Lalbagh.

The train will have 10 chair cars initially with two power engine vans and Global Positioning System (GPS).- with a scroll in Hindi, English, Tamil and Kannada.
