Sit-in-protest starts at St.Joseph College students: Trichy

About hundreds of students of the St.Jospeh College, Tiruchy began their sit-in-protest inside their college on Monday in support of Sri Lankan Tamils,demanding the Central Government to support the USA resolution to be brought at the UN Human Rights Meet  being held in Geneva.

The strike of the students of the Chennai Loyola College came to an end after the police arrested eight students and some of their  supporters on the midnight of Sunday and took them to the Government Hospital, Royapettah, Chennai.

In Tiruchy more than hundreds of policemen in uniform and plainclothes were posted to take care of the safety of the students.

Following the spread of the news of the Loyola College students were taken to the hospital for providing immediate medical care , the students of the Arts College, Kumbakonam began their sit-in-protest from inside the college where to police securities have been posted.

" Unless the Central Government ministers come with an assurance, that the interests of the Sri Lankan Tamils will be protected by supporting the USA resolution at the Geneva UN Human Rights Meet, the protest from the student may be continual" said a member of a political party.
