Standing by its decision to treat the case of the Italian marines seriously, the Union Home Ministry has alerted airports across the country to prevent the Italian Ambassador Daniel Mancini from leaving India.
The Ministry has said that the Ambassador cannot leave the country unless he gets proper permission to do so.
The announcement comes in the wake of diplomatic tension between India and Italy. Two Italian marines held for the murder of Indian fishermen off the coast of Kerala were under trial when they were allowed to go back home to cast their votes. However, Italy has refused to send them back, causing annoyance to the Indian government.
