Lok Sabha 2019: Arakkonam DMK-led alliance candidate S Jagathrakshakan

S. Jagathrakshakan (born 15 August 1950 in Kalingamali, Villupuram district in Tamil Nadu) is an Indian Tamil businessman and politician. He did his matriculation at Valudvur. He was a member of Lok Sabha of India from Arakkonam constituency of Tamil Nadu.  He is a three-time MP, having won in Arakkonam twice previously and a prominent Tamil businessman. 

Jagathrakshakan was Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting in UPA-II between 2009 and 2012. Thereafter, he was Union MoS for New and Renewable Energy.  He is also the chairman of Shree Balaji Medical College and Hospital. He is the owner of Dr.Rela Hospital and Institute. He has authored 30 books, one of which was released by Mother Teresa.

About Arakkonam constituency :

One of the 39 Lok Sabha constituencies of Tamil Nadu, the constituency of Arakkonam was formed in 1977 and currently comprises of six Vidhan Sabha segments and 1,098,607 voters. 1,098,607 is the total electorate count in the Arakkonam Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 7). Out of these 549,749 number of electorates are males and the remaining 548,858 are belong to the female category as the Election commission of India 2014 reports suggest.
