WhatsApp is in an effort to bring down spreading of fake news as it is testing an upcoming feature on Group Settings which will curb sharing of frequently forwarded messages.
The social media platform is already in the process of tracking the total number of times a messages is forwarded. This is said to be helpful for over 1.5 billion users.
Until now, the features of ‘frequently forwarded’ or ‘forwarding info’ are not rolled out. In the Beta update for Android, it is likely that WhatsApp will introduce these features, say webetainfo.com that constantly monitors upcoming WhatsApp updates.
For the 2.19.97 beta update, new feature is being tested accordingly one can stop spreading of most frequently forwarded messages. This option will only be available on Group settings and available for access only to the Group Admin. As this feature gets enabled, it will not be possible to share such messages that are most frequently forwarded.
However, one may copy the message and send it afresh, but that will be a comparatively longer process than to simply forward.
WhatsApp considers a message as Frequently Forwarded when it is shared for 4 times or more. The maximum number of forwards restricted in India is 5.
