New terminal at domestic terminal begins operations

The first flight to arrive in Chennai’s new domestic terminal was a GoAir flight from Port Blair. The first to enter the new building was a carpenter. Passengers were pleasantly surprised when they were led to the new terminal once they landed. A Greek couple who are visiting India as tourists were glad. Speaking to the media, they said, ‘Twenty days ago, we flew out of a terminal which was not good.Today,this building isshiny and neat. We are happy to see the change. It is good airports here are becoming better.’
An official of the AAI said, ‘The flight was handled well. Two flights of SpiceJet will be handled on Friday and one each of Jet Airways and Indigo Airlines on Saturday. Major operations will begin from Monday. We are looking at these flights as trials and are trying to find teething problems so that they can be set right before full scale operations begin.’
