TN parties ask Centre to boycott Commonwealth Meet

The two warring parties of Tamil Nadu AIADMK and DMK have come together on one issue. Both have asked the Centre to boycott the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) to be held in Colombo in November this year.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urging him to cancel his meeting and not send an Indian representative. Not doing this, she said, would only encourage the Sri Lankan government and would create a major upheaval in Tamil Nadu. She said that if the Centre boycotted the event, other countries would also realize the extent of the atrocities committed by Sri Lanka during its civil war with the LTTE.
