The world’s most popular video site YouTube.com announced on Sunday that it would be shutting down its operations. The announcement was made via a 3 minute video and turned out to be an April Fool’s Day joke.
The video said that the site was an 8-year long competition to find out the best video and that operations would shut down at the end of the day to review all the videos and announce the winner.
‘Competition Director’ Tim Liston said, ‘We are so close to the end. Tonight at midnight, youtube.com will no longer be accepting entries. After eight amazing years, it is finally time to review everything that has been uploaded to our site and begin the process of selecting a winner. Distinguished film critics, YouTube celebrities and some of the site’s most prolific commentators are on the judges’ panel.’
