Prices of fruits have not risen in the recent past. As the summer heat sets in, more people are flocking towards roadside stalls that sell cut fruits, especially watermelons and melons.
The watermelons sold are of different varieties namdari which is the green striped one, mithila with yellow pulp, kiran with a dark red pulp and vishal with red pulp and a yellow rind. The last three are sold at a slightly higher cost than namdari.
Mangoes have also hit the market early this year. Alphonso and Peethar varieties are being sold for Rs. 70 Rs. 80 per kg while Banganapalli and Sendura mangoes are sold for Rs. 80 Rs. 100.
