The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced that a toll plaza will come up on Chennai Bypass Road at Puzhal. The road links Puzhal in Thiruvallur district to Irumbuliyur in Kanchipuram district and measure 32 feet.
This will be the second toll collecting plaza on this road, the first being near Maduravoil at Vanagaram. The road sees a lot of traffic as it connects two main National Highways – NH 45 (Grand Southern Trunk Road) and NH 5 (Chennai Tada Highway).
Speaking about this, an NHAI official said, ‘The new toll plaza at Puzhal has 12 lanes for entry in both directions. The facility will be operated by a contractor on an operate-and-maintain basis… We are yet to fix the tariff for the new toll plaza, as talks are still on with the contractor, a Maharashtra-based company… The date of inauguration would be fixed once the toll charges were finalised.’
