It is worthy to mention here that the funds for first phase have been obtained through a loan from JICA. It is now revealed that the state government would get funding from Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank for the second and third phases of distance 56.8 km from Thatchur to Sriperumbudur. The proposal was recently approved by the centre and bank approved the loan.
Once the tenders are floated, the funds would be released and the mode of funding for the first phase from Vandalur to Pooncheri near Mamallapuram would also be decided soon. It must be taken into account that phase 4 of the project from Sriperumbudur to Vandalur has already been completed by TNRIDC. The superb piece of information is after completion of the project the Chennai city would get expanded and heavy vehicles would be taken away from the core places of Chennai.
