Soon, water supply to be increased for the Chennai residents

At the time of the water crisis in Chennai city, water tankers provided water to the residents of Chennai is known.  Now, Chennai city has been getting rains for the past few months are known.

It is now said that the Chennai metro water has plans to increase the water supply from 23rd October. The important information is recently metro water increased the rates of the water tankers of various capacities. From Rs 700, the price went to Rs 735 for a 9 kilolitre capacity water tanker is known.

Normally, price is reviewed every year but was stopped due to drought conditions in the last 2 years.  This was as per the official of MWD. It is now brought out that the price increase for the households has been revoked or canceled. This would be until the availability of water becomes stable and more streets get covered with better-piped supply.

The superb information is more areas of Chennai would be receiving drinking water through pipelines from next week. This would be after a gap of many months. Beginning from the 23rd of October, MWD would be increasing the water supply from the current 525 mld to 650 mld.

It was mentioned by some officials of MWD that the wait is for the storage in the RedHills reservoir to touch 444 million cubic feet for withdrawal. Presently, 249 million cubic feet of water are present in this reservoir.

Point to be noted is on Friday the combined storage of 4 major lakes stood at 1522 mcft and much of it was storage in the Poondi reservoir. The catchment areas are getting rainfall and it is believed that the storage would increase. At the weekend, the meteorological department had predicted light to moderate rains in TN. The rains could be due to the low-pressure area and convective activity in some parts.

There would be heavy rainfall in south coastal TN districts like Kanniyakumari, Thoothukudi, etc. It is revealed that the western districts like Nilgris and Dharmapuri might have heavy rainfall. From the 21st of October, rainfall activity might be more and Chennai would get light to moderate rainfall in some places.
