Parandur would become an important place for many travellers in the future.

For the Chennai city’s second airport, Parandur in Kancheepuram district is now being considered as a favourable site.

As many as 4700 acres of lands have been identified at Parandur and 12 adjoining villages. Till now, the initial findings do not show any obstacles to the building of the airport. This was as per some sources.

The distance between the present airport and Parandur is 60 kms and it is said that a passenger would need hour and half to go from the existing airport to Parandur.  It must be taken into account that in a week’s time the final clearance would come from AAI. It is important to note that there would be some issues regarding the acquisition of lands as just 50% of lands was with the state government and the rest needs to be acquired.

Point to be noted is recently state government had requested the team of officials from AAI to visit 2 sites namely Parandur and Mamandur. Initial study was carried out by the team of officials for the feasibility of constructing airport at one of these sites. It was later brought out by a source that water body present close to the site identified in Mamandur might pose challenge in building the airport but it was not an impossible one. AAI would be conducting a techno-feasibility study and series of finer details would be looked and scrutinised. Point is after the site gets finalised many other approvals would be obtained.
