The Government Yoga and Naturopathy Medical College and Hospital (GYNMCH) in Arumbakkam is seeing a lot of people who come in to slim down and look thinner for their weddings. ‘Wedding Yoga’ is now taught at the institute for free to lose weight and make the body strong and slim, in time for your wedding.

Says Principal of GYNMCH Dr. N. Manavalan, ‘(We) provide counseling first and draft a dietary table for the obese person and teach the requisite asanas for the individual to get the right curves. The GYNMCH receives at least 40 to 50 obese patients every day and the numbers are rising steadily.

‘Obese youth change their food habits and lifestyle during the treatment and get ready for marriage in a few months. Many of our patients come to us as a last resort. They would have tried weight-losing drinks, exercises, tablets and electrical belts. Here, we provide holistic treatment. We study the patients’ family, eating habits, work culture, mental health, hypertension and all other parameters and frame a treatment for him/her… An individual becomes obese over the years and any shortcut to reduce the weight overnight will affect his health. Our marriage techniques will help you be slim and lead a healthy married life.’
