Latest news is from 9th January to 12th January Mylapore Festival would be attracting many people and this festival would take place around Kapaleeswarar tank and at the Nageswara Park. It is said that atleast 400 artistes would be making their presence felt in 30 events during the festival. This four day Mylapore Festival is being conducted by Sundaram Finance.
The Mylapore Festival is an integral part of Chennai Margazhi calendar and has been attracting different types of people for savouring the flavour of Chennai. This was as per Mr. T.T. Srinivasa raghavan, managing director, Sundaram Finance.
Various events that would be present in this year Mylapore Festival are traditional games, kolam contests for kids and adults, rangoli, food walks, heritage walks, temple walks, traditional dance drama, folk dance, music etc.
According to the curator of Sundaram Finance Mylapore Festival, Mr. Vincent D’ Souza, the aim was to use the precincts of the temple and the open spaces in the heritage zone for the sake of cultural events. On all the four evenings, there would be bharatanatyam dance drams and this would take place at the main stage in front of the Kapaleeswarar temple.
The students belonging to Sruthilaya School would be involved in mike less group kutcheri at the Nageswara Rao Park at 7 am on Thursday and this would kick start this 4 day Mylapore Festival.
There would be events like bharatanatyam dance drama presentation, folk dance and Indian Music Choir concert and it is said that these would take place at the main stage in front of 16 pillar mandapam at 6 pm. On Sunday, at 6 pm there would be Indian Gymnastic Show.
On Saturday and on Sunday at 3:30 pm in the evenings, traditional pulli kolam contest would attract 200 participants across Chennai and it would take place in North Mada Street.
