Transport Corporation: Facility to pay monthly season tickets by credit/debit cards!

The Chennai Metro Transport Corporation has announced that the bus travel passes can now be obtained by paying through credit/debit cards. So, the monthly season tickets for MTC travel can be procured from the season-ticket sales counters can be paid by swiping machine. When the bus fares were revised upwards a few years ago, a good chunk of the passengers was affected by the increase in expenses.
In order to offset this, the Chennai Metro Transport Corporation had announced that it will offer some other concessions - such as monthly-pass or paying Rs. 1000 to travel in the city air-conditioned and other buses.
Subsequently, the passengers procured the Rs. 1000 pass to travel in MTC buses. Presently, 2.66 Lakhs passengers are paying cash to get their concession ticket/pass.
In due consideration to the above category of passengers, and also to encourage electronic financial transactions, the Chennai Metro Transport Corporation has announced the facility to pay by credit/debit card to procure their passes at the 29 sales counters in the North and South Zones.
