A metal boom barrier has been blocking the entry to Bharathi Avenue in Injambakkam in Chennai. This was removed on Monday by the Chennai Corporation.
The corporation had received many complaints regarding the metal boom barrier that blocked the entry of people to the road that leads to the beach from ECR. It was later mentioned by an official hat public roads cannot be closed or barricaded preventing the entry of the people. In the past, the locals wanted a barrier to prevent bike racing on the road to beach.
After police concurrence, the officials belonging to the corporation allowed the barrier with a condition that it must be kept closed only at the night time with a watchman. In the day time, they were not given permission to keep it closed. It was later revealed by the corporation officials that all barriers that were kept closed in the day time thereby denying access to public roads would be removed.
