The Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Express Transport Corporation (TNETC), Ilangovan, informed that special buses will be operated on the occasion of the grand festival traditionally performed annually at Palani on the sacred day of ‘Thai Poosam’ (the day on which the star ‘poosam’ falls on the Tamil calendar month of Thai).
In a press notification released in this regard, he has mentioned:
In order to facilitate the large number of devotees who would be visiting Palani on the grand occasion of the Thai Poosam festival traditional celebrated, special buses are being organised and operated for the trip to Palani and then, the return after the festival from all major cities/centres.
Accordingly, for this year as well, on the grand occasion of the Thai Poosam festival falling on 7th February, 15 special buses will be operated from Chennai. 5 special buses each will be operated from Trichy and Dindigul and 4 buses each from Coimbatore and Madurai. 3 special buses will be operated from Salem. 1 special bus each will be operated from Karaikkudi, Tirunelveli, Sengottai, and Thiruvananthapuram, making up for a total of 40 ultra-deluxe buses to Palani.
After the conclusion of Thai Poosam festival, 40 special buses are scheduled to be operated from Palani on 8th February 2020 to the Chennai Metro City and other major cities.
