The news that has come out now is 15 year long wait for a high level bridge in Kundrathur on the Kodambakkam -Sriperumbudur Road is over and the highways department has started work on constructing the four-lane facility.

The residents need to cross a channel from Chembarambakkam Lake from running over the road and due to this reason the bridge is very important for people belonging to 10 localities. It is known that the residents belonging to above said places have to cross the stretch to reach the city.

Mr. M. Elango, a resident of Kundrathur expressed his thoughts. He spoke about how many petitions were submitted in the past for the sake of constructing a bridge. He explained how every monsoon sluice gates were opened to let out excess water and how it submerged the road. The motorists find it difficult and as a result they take a long route to reach their destinations.

The work was passed from one department to another. This was according to a retired official belonging to the highways department. He revealed that soil tests were conducted few years back and how the work could not be started at that time. Point is this bridge would have 10 spans and it would be of 500m in length. The bridge construction would be completed in 8 months of time and this was brought out by an official.
